Doug Delanoy

I am a corporate and commercial lawyer. Success in business is has been my passion since I my first job as a paperboy in primary school - back in a time when communities still published local newspapers.

I became a lawyer after two decades of running a mid-sized 5-store travel company in Southern California. Upon selling the business, I had the opportunity to move overseas to Australia, where I earned my Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne in 2013. I was admitted in the Australian state of Victoria in 2014 and shortly thereafter joined a boutique commercial law practice with a diverse national and international clientele in Melbourne. I am still admitted and practice as a lawyer in Australia.

I returned to California after the Covid pandemic after having spent 10 wonderful years living in Melbourne and was admitted to the California Bar in 2023.

In over 10 years of legal practice, I've continued to apply the same basic tenets of personal service that were important to the success of my travel company: (1) understand the client and their needs; (2) anticipate matters of importance to the client before the client does; (3) provide excellent value for the services provided; and (4) always work to achieve a result that best fits the client's needs - understanding that the "best" result, as a lawyer providing legal advice, may be a commercial (and not a legal) one.​

Of course, in legal matters an excellent understanding of the applicable black-letter law and how it may apply to the circumstances in question is always of crucial importance. Even so, the skill of providing a 'plain language' summary for clients of our ever increasingly complicated laws and regulations is more vital than ever.

My legal experience includes a clientele from sole proprietors to national and international manufacturing and service companies, as well as an EU-based Forbes 400 international consumer and industrial products company. I love to talk about business and learn how companies find success, no matter what their industry may be. Helping clients to achieve their success is my greatest satisfaction.
